Abstract:

Endometriosis is a chronic disease affecting approximately 1 in every 10 women. Despite its comparable prevalence to Type 2 Diabetes, endometriosis remains less recognized. It is characterized by the presence of endometrial-like tissue outside the uterus, causing various symptoms. One common symptom experience by the majority of women with endometriosis is chronic pain. Hypnosis has shown scientific evidence in effectifly treating chronic pain. However, there is currently a lack of systematic studies on the use of hypnosis specifically for treating chronic pain in women with endometriosis. In this workshop, we will present preliminary results of a chronic pain manual tailored to address the treatment of chronic pain in women with endometriosis. The manual is based on scientific evidence on the treatment of chronic pain, decades of clinical experience, and personal efficacy of the techniques. Together with a student of psychology Viviane Ehret who has endometriosis we started to include hypnotherapeutic interventions to adress the disease and not only pain.
