Abstract:

The writing recovers the figure of Gualtiero Guantieri and his approach to Clinical Hypnosis as a suggestion for the new generations towards a hypnosis that can put the human being (conceived as body, mind and soul) in a patient-therapist relationship that amplifies the potential of healing.

Guantieri founded the Istituto Bernheim, the first Italian school of research and training in Clinical Hypnosis admitted at the ISH and founding member of ESH. In the 1960s he innovated the concept of Hypnotherapy through a significant human solidaristic characterization, typical of his thinking and professional action, that led to the postulation of seven pillars. They are:
1. Hypnosis is a complex entity as the man who experiences it. It is worthy of study and rigorous research procedures that fully grasp its complexity while avoiding reductive concessions of a positivistic matrix
2. Holistic vision of the person anchored to his/her specific world
3. Anthropological and historical consideration of clinical and pedagogical hypnosis
4. Multidisciplinary direction of hypnological study and research to better define the complexity of the phenomena involved
5. Psychosomatic inspiration, since there is no function of the psyche that does not have somatic consequences, nor a body that, alive, doesn't determine a psychic emergence
6. The indispensability of a contextual, hypnological community of scientists, researchers and trainers, which gives vital and cognitive impetus to this important and complex knowledge so that it can become a common cultural heritage
7. Great attention to the evolutionary perspectives of Hypnosis

The Guantierian Hypnology is proposed as a scientifically delineated tool, able to innovate the traditional doctor-patient relationship, making it suitable, deep, more stringent and quick in identifying the origin of the problem and its re-alignment.
