Abstract:

In this workshop I would like to emphasize the scientific, methodological, ethical aspects of Elkins Hypnotizability Scale (EHS 2014) and the uniqueness of hypnotizability measuring procedure and training technique of the Behavioral Medicine and Research Credibility Laboratory with an insight into the Hungarian validation process and give an opportunity to try EHS during the workshop.

I would like to share experience in this field as an MA student administrative assistant who has deep interest in educating the scientific and the broader society about hypnosis and in carry on the tradition of Gary R. Elkins from Baylor University and Zoltán Kekecs from Eötvös Loránd University.

The workshop main goal to expand the realm of knowledge about hypnosis by:

1.) Guiding through the theoretical background
2.) Introducing the Elkins Scale
3.) Demonstrating where volunteer participants can try EHS in relaxation hypnosis
4.) Exploring of the administration of the scale and realize the positive aspects in practice through objective and critical lens
5.) Discussing and brainstorming how to make this scale the base of experiments (short summary of the varied palette of Hungarian EHS experiments in ELTE)
6.) Highlighting the specialties of BMRC Laboratory in fluent adaptation of the process, the mentoring system and the practice side for other laboratories as well
